WELCOME TO TEXAS HISTORY, 

This week we will work on Gone to Texas posters. I will provide you with magazines to create these posters. They are going to serve as advertisements. You will try to convince the people of the United State to move to Texas; you will state reasons why it is better to live in Texas. 


The end of year trip payment is due 12/20/17.

If I do not have at least 20 students pay we will cancel the end of year trip. 

7th grade Socials will take place on Thursday the 21st. 

December 21st will be early dismissal for all students.

This week we will be covering the Louisiana Purchase, Manifest Destiny, Federalists, a review on empresarios. I will post the review online so that you're able to review it. We will be six weeks testing on December 14th.

WELCOME TO TEXAS HISTORY, 
This past week was a success! I am proud of all of you. Please come to school everyday and ask you parents to set your doctors appointments in the afternoon. I challenge all seventh grade to have a 100% perfect attendance for one week this six weeks. This week we will wrap up with the regions of Texas and begin with the ancient people of Texas. How did they get here? What did hey do to survive? Who were their enemies? Why is there now a scarce amount of Native Americans? What happen to them? We will talk about this during class.


You will receive your progress reports sometime this week.

WELCOME TO TEXAS HISTORY, 

Vision Board Due October 6th



This past week has been a successful one. Why? You have proven yourself to be the young adults you are! Behavior and attendance is on target. This week we have covered maps and the Three Branches of Government/Separation of Powers. We will continue with the regions of Texas which falls into the Social Studies Strand of Geography. We will be referring back to the strands as we progress through the school year; make a mental note of that. As far as our do nows Channel One has be working wonderfully. I love our discussions during class and hope that your thinking process continues to flourish! For those of you who have not caught up with setting up your interactive notebook you need to see me during lunch. I am giving you the opportunity before progress report grades are due. Remember you can refer back at any point to my interactive notebook. Make this week a great one! A positive attitude keeps our classroom culture upbeat.

WELCOME TO TEXAS HISTORY,

KIDS!! WE survived week one of school! I hope this first week set the standard as to what 7th grade teachers expect from you for the rest of the school year! Remember, procedures, procedures, procedures, are vital for your education as well as it is for us the teachers! It is imperative that you come to school everyday! IF you have a doctor or dentists appointment make sure to schedule them in the afternoon. Be at school! You are the reason we are here! You have done a fantastic job this past week. I was proud to see you working as a team this past week with our cup tower. We will be working in groups quite often this school year. Please cooperate with one another it also helps with your social emotional skills. I have high expectations for you, don't let me down but more importantly don't let yourself down. This week will we finish setting up our interactive notebook and as I mentioned it must be neat, creative, colorful, and complete. You will keep this journal in a great condition. We will also cover the three branches of government as well as starting to cover the regions of Texas.

This week we will talk about Texas as a Republic. Texas gains their independence from Mexico after the Battle of San Jacinto. 

Monday – We will be working on Telpas Essay. 


Tuesday 
Lecture on the organizing of a New Government. Once Texas gains Independence from Mexico they develop a new government.
We will create our own form of government as an activity.

Wednesday 
The students will work on an activity that will further explain the form of government the Texans create.

Thursday 
Lecture on Lamar as President.

Friday 
Activity on comparing and contrasting Lamar and Houston as Presidents.
