Welcome back, 

    As I look back at 2015, I must say that I am profoundly appreciative of your sincere dedication to your academics. Because of YOU, we are well positioned for the NEW YEAR, which will bring new expectations and new challenges.

    We must always keep in mind that on the road to success, the RULE is to ALWAYS look ahead. I have no doubt that through our continuous commitment and relentless hard work, we WILL reach our destination!

Wednesday


Reintroduce the procedures in the first 10 minutes. Begin discussion in prior knowledge of events leading to Texas Revolution. 20 minutes- Start PowerPoint presentation and write notes on the difficulties Texans faced with Mexico. Last 20 minutes begin activity on Fredonian Rebellion.


Thursday

Use a timeline to discuss the important events in the 1820s and 1830s. Explain and describe the effects of the Law of April 6th, 1830. Continue and complete activity on Fredonian Rebellion. Begin on activity on Law of April 6th, 1830.

Friday
Continue with powerpoint presentation and finish with activity on the Law of April 6th, 1830. Introduce project on significant roles of people in the events leading to Texas Revolution.

Statesman Samuel Houston was a key political figure in the creation of the state of Texas. He was elected the first president of the Republic of Texas in 1836.


Samuel Houston was born on March 2, 1793, near Lexington, Virginia. From 1813 to 1814, he fought in the Creek War and was wounded at Horseshoe Bend. He was elected to Congress in 1823 and 1825. In 1827, he became Tennessee governor. He was made the first president of the Republic of Texas in 1836 and was re-elected in 1841. From 1849 to 1859, he was a Texas state senator. He died on July 26, 1863, in Huntsville, Texas.
